While at Related Urban Development, Shapiro was a project manager on Palladium at Birmingham, a $42 million mixed-use project consisting of a 12-screen movie theater, three restaurants, and three retails stores in this upscale suburb of Detroit.

While at Related Urban Development, Shapiro was a project manager on CityPlace, a 72-acre Mediterranean-style mixed-use project in West Palm Beach, featuring over two dozen specialty retail stores, ten restaurants and bars, a 20-screen cinema complex, and a historic church redeveloped into a performance center.
